Red spider mites are agricultural and ornamental plant pests. They are arthopods more closely related to spiders and ticks than insects. They suck plant sap from leaves or tender parts of stems leaving them damaged and discolored. The injury weakens young plants and may kill them. They leave drops of honeydew which is secreted after ingestion and digestion of the plant sap. The honeydew is shown as the little round globules among the spider mites.
