MEALY BUG 001

Mealy Bugs are among the most damaging of agricultural insect pests. Males can fly, females are wingless. Their bodies are covered with cottony mass of wax which forms thread-like extensions. They suck plant sap from leaves and stems, sometimes causing the plant to wilt. They produce large amounts of honeydew, shown in the photograph as yellow orange globules.
