Radiation Detecting

White Sands Missile Range, NM 2 April, 2011, Trinity Site National Historic Landmark.  During the last free public tour, Dr. Paul Rubin MD, ( left) tests background ground radiation levels from buried Trinitite at the Trinity Site Monument.  The Monument, marking ground zero in the background, where the first atomic bomb, constructed under the Manhatten Project, was tested on July 16, 1945, at 5:29:45 a.m. Mountain War Time.  The second atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, the third on Nagasaki, Japan on August 9 and on August 14, 1945 Japan surrendered ending World War II.  Trinity Site National Historic Landmark is located in the White Sands Missile Range, southwest of Socorro, New Mexico.
