White-lined Sphinx Moth, Hyles lineata,  Wing Span: 2 7/16 - 3 9/16 in. (6.3 - 9 cm).Family: Sphingidae.Subfamily: Macroglossinae.A wide habitat range includes deserts, suburbs, and gardens.  The White-lined Sphinx Moth feeds on nectar including columbines, larkspurs, petunias, honeysuckle, moonvine, bouncing be, lilac, clovers, thistles and Jimpson weed.  .Adults usuall flay at dusk and dawn.  Caterpillars pupate in shallow burrows in the ground.  Caterpillar plant hosts include four o'clock (Miirabillis), apple (Malus), evening primrose (Oenothera), elm (Ulmus), grape (Vitis), tomato (Lycopersicon), purslane (Portulaca) and Fuschia.  Occasiona outbreaks of the caterpillars have damaged tomato, grape and garden crops in Utah.
