A descriptive photograph of how long a ligtning bolt can travel through air until it hits ground, estimated here at 6 to 8 miles. Lightning strikes mid Tucson and the Santa Catalina Mountains from a sunset thunderstorm during the summer 'monsoon' season.  Oringal photograph taken on 35mm color slide film, Fujichrome Velvia, ISO 50 with a Canon T-90 camera, SSC 200mm f/2.8 lens at f/8 for a time exposure.
