A rare photograph of lightning bolt and a secondary upward streamer leader to the right of where it strikes the ground. During the ionization process of a lightning strike, a weak negatively charged streamer seeks electrical ground on the earth's surface. As it approaches the earth a positive swell of electrons rise to connect sending the light in lightning upward through the ionized channel. Original on Kodachrome 35mm film ISO 64, Camera - Canon T-90 with 100mm f/4 macro lens @ f/8. time exposure of approximately 5 minutes on bulb and tripod. Photographed summer of 1986. NOTE 1: Keith Kent photographed the same storm from a base line of approximately 1/2 mile which resulted in the only known stereo pair of a lightning bolt ever taken!
